Ms. T. Bootsma
Junior Kindergarten Coordinator
Ms. Bootsma earned her Early Childhood Educators certificate and received training in Child Care Counseling in 1990 in Burnaby, B.C. She has extensive experience working in and managing early childhood programs in public and private schools in Vancouver, Naramata, and Penticton, B.C. She loves working with all children and has taken many special needs courses and recently completed the T.E.S.O.L. course.
Ms. Bootsma is a dedicated member of the Glenfir Faculty. She invites all children at the school to visit and 'play' with their younger peers. Often her class is filled with happy children from junior kindergarten to grade four and up enjoying lunch, snack, or play time together. Ms. Bootsma has a favorite pet, Molly, her little cocker spaniel, who enjoys visits with the children, staff, and parents at the school. In the beginning when Ms. Bootsma first brought Molly for a quiet visit in the JK classroom she turned around to discover that Molly not only enjoyed the JKs but was off visiting everyone at the school! Most days though, Molly stays at home waiting for the walks that she and Ms. Bootsma enjoy together.
One of Ms. Bootsma's favorite times at school is music with Mr. Gass where the whole class enjoys dancing, singing, movement and fun! At times she is confused with being one of the children! Ms. Bootsma's philosophy is "to teach a child you must think and feel like a child". She follows this philosophy every day as she leads her class with enthusiasm for learning while still having fun!
