Coach Chris Bennett
Glenfir is very proud announce Coach Chris Bennett as the Director of our new soccer program. Students from kindergarten to grade twelve will all be able to learn from his experiences and grow as soccer players under his expertise through Glenfir's Special Activity Program. Beginning in September 2009, students from grades seven to twelve will have the opportunity to join Glenfir's Soccer Academy and train alongside Coach Bennett five days a week.
A former Canadian international and an original member of the Vancouver Whitecaps, Chris Bennett has over twenty years of coaching experience, with many years at the international level. He spent 12 years as a coach with the Canadian Soccer Association, including three years as National U-20 Boy's Assistant Head Coach (1998-2000), and 11 years as a coach at the CSA High Performance Centre at Simon Fraser University (1988-1999).
A striker in his playing days, Bennett earned nine caps with the Canadian National Team from 1973 to 1975, scoring twice. He spent time with famed English club Chelsea in 1970-71 and played several years in the North American Soccer League, starting with the Vancouver Whitecaps in 1974. Chris Bennett led the Whitecaps Women to the 2004 W-League Championship, which earned him a place in the BC Sports Hall of Fame. Chris remained with the Whitecaps organization in 2005 becoming the Head Coach of the new Whitecaps Men's Reserve Team.

"The Original Whitecaps Team 1974"
Chris Bennett runs an elite soccer academy out of Port Coquitlam, BC, and focuses on the all-round development of elite soccer players from the age of 11 upwards, boys and girls. His academy is limited in numbers, much like Glenfir, to guarantee quality and provide every child with the special attention they require and deserve. Chris uses his twenty years of coaching experience to nurture each player, developing their weaknesses and extending their strengths. Chris's objective as the Director of Glenfir's Soccer Programme is to find and develop the soccer stars of tomorrow.
A Message from Chris Bennett
Soccer has enriched my life and I owe very much to the game, the skills and abilities that I offered my last employer had a lot to do with the tremendous apprenticeship I served working in and around the game. A large part of my life has been dedicated to Soccer, as an Amateur and Professional. I have great pride in my accomplishments, special honors and recognitions. These experiences have prepared me for the education of life, and have equipped me with the skills relevant to effectively perform the position of Director of Glenfir's Soccer Programme.
