Mr. D. Roy, B.A., M.A.L.S.
Grade 6 to 12 Language Arts

Mr. Roy comes to us from the Edison School near Calgary, but brings with him a diverse background in education.  He will be teaching English for Grades 6 to 12.

Recently returned from four years in the People's Republic of China, Mr. Roy was an English Professor at Guangdong University in Guangzhou, a Principal of a BC Ministry accredited high school near Shanghai, and was an English Teacher at BC schools in Suzhou and Beijing.  He has also taught in Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong following a long career as Teacher, Counsellor and Administrator in schools and colleges throughout BC.

Originally from Winnipeg, Mr. Roy obtained his B.A. from the University of Manitoba, then acquired BC Teacher Certification and a Masters Degree from Simon Fraser University.  He has also studied at UBC, Malaspina and McGill.

As you might expect, Mr. Roy views the study of English as fundamental to all other academic endeavours, but divides his time between scholarship, athletics and enjoying family life.  Since Cantonese has become the daily working language in his home, he hopes one day to understand what his wife and daughter are saying about him.  Other personal goals include the completion of his Doctoral dissertation and the total defeat of Mr. Bakx on the Glenfir tennis court.
