Daily Life

2008-04-24 18:27:34

I really enjoyed that lesson today. I found it very interesting, largely because of all of your enthusiasm. I see so much progress in your note taking, discussion contributions, and overall knowledge. Lessons like today really makes me proud of you guys.

That journal on daily life is due on Monday (I know, we don't have ss7 on Monday, but trust me - you don't want to delay until after the camping trip).

Remember, you can do a traditional journal, or you can challenge yourself to express the information while explaining if you would rather be an Athenian Male/Female or Spartan Male/Female.

Don't forget to refer to your rubrics while writing.

Sparta!

Today we made the Eye of Re out of clay. We also read about the divine family.

For homework, each student has been asked to sketch an illustration of one of the gods.

For some interesting information about Egyptian art, see http://www.digitalegypt.ucl.ac.uk/art/whatisaeart.html

For a closer look at some of the gods, see http://ancientegypt.co.uk/gods/explore/main.html

Egyptian Religion

Today we viewed an online activity that told the Egyptian creation myth. To watch it again visit http://ancientegypt.co.uk/gods/story/main.html. We then read about Egyptian religion. In class we completed and discussed two worksheets (activity sheets 7 and 10).

There was no homework assigned, though I did give students two review activities on Osiris and Isis, and the story of Re. These can be used to prepare for our test on Egypt. Each has a short quiz that the students can take.
