Homeroom

Class Trip

2008-05-02 09:39:03

As you are aware, we are preparing for the Grade Nine class trip to Calgary, departing in the very early morning (7 a.m.) on Friday, May 9. They should have now received their permission slips to be signed and returned. Thanks to Mr. Belmonte and Mr. Charbonneau for volunteering to be the drivers for the trip, and to Mr. Park for coordinating.

Lateness

The Grade Nines continue to have challenges with being on time for homeroom. I would very much appreciate it if they could be more prompt.

Daily Schedule

Welcome back for Term Three! Thanks to Alan Park for assisting us to plan the Grade 9 class trip, which will take place on May 9, 10 and 11 to Calgary. We have an exciting itinerary coming together.

With the advent of third term, we are also implementing a new schedule. The most significant implications are that Homeroom is finished by 8:30 and the first class begins, so students need to make an extra effort to be on time and in homeroom by 8:25 at the latest.

Lunch is also later, so snack time becomes more essential. I am sure that your student will let you know about these changes, and will pack a little more protein to get through the morning.

Activities

In homeroom we have been doing some watercolour paintings in order to offer student-made greeting cards for sale at the April Benefit Gala.

For our basket for the gala, we have chosen "Citizen of the World" or "Global Citizen" as our theme. Please bring music, non-perishable food items, perfume, books, and artifacts which represent a country or place that is a little "exotic", for inclusion in our basket. I have begun the offerings with specialty French chocolate truffles, available in my home of Quebec, and will add a can of Quebec maple syrup when I return from break. Let your imagination be your guide!

On Friday, the Maxwell Dance Workshop will perform in the Glenfir gym at 1:30. All are welcome to this impressive event.

Lateness has become an issue with the grade nines. Please do your very best to ensure that your child is at school on time for homeroom.

Report cards are going home this week.

Have a wonderful holiday.
