Drama 5/6
Trees and Plants
2008-05-02 09:40:50
For the upcoming Grade 5/6 production, "Spring Festival", to be held May 26 at 8:30 a.m. as part of the Assembly, we need as many flowering plants (artificial or real) as possible. Students should now be learning poems, lines, and songs, except for the sets crew, who are working more on creating our spring garden. Thanks for all your assistance.
Current Production
2008-04-18 10:22:48
Grade 5/6 Drama has now been reduced to one period a week in the timetable. I have divided the class in preparation for our "Spring Festival" production, which will take place on May 26 at the Monday morning assembly. Some of the students are working on sets, and for any parents who are able to contribute large artificial plants for an "indoor garden", it would be very helpful. Some students are working on drama, and others are working on singing and solos. The production promises to be quite pretty, so we hope you will be able to attend.
Change in schedule
2008-04-02 09:35:09
With term three, the schedule has changed and we have one less period per week for our drama class. We will be working to a very brief time frame, and will produce a short tableau, emphasizing sets and music, to be performed during the Assembly on May 26, first thing in the morning. Mark the date and time now on your calendar, and turn out to see the final performance of teh Grade 5/6 Drama class for this year!
Performances
2008-02-26 09:49:09
In the morning of March 10, the finalists for Glenfir's annual speech competition will be performing from 9 a.m. to about noon. After lunch, at a time yet to be determined, there will also be a special assembly in order to present the grade 4/5 play, "Little Women" adapted; and the grade 5/6 tableaux, "Classic Children's Literature", will be presented. Times to be announced. Please keep Monday, March 10 free so that you can join us.
Also, I have arranged for a presentation of the Maxwell Dance Workshop on the afternoon of Friday, March 14. Parents and interested friends are welcome to attend this fantastic performance, which integrates dance, music, drama, and physical education. It will be held in the gym at 1:30 p.m.
Monologues

January 17, 2008
The grade five/six drama class is currently working on individual monologues, which will be performed in the final week before spring break. These are meant to encourage work on memory, diction, characterization, and projection. Each student has a fairly lengthy piece from a popular children's book to memorize for performance. Students should be trying to memorize at least a line or two each night. More details will be posted about date and time of the performance towards the end of February. Please encourage your child in this very challenging work!
